Rick Bernstein started the Bangor area "Pay it Forward" concept in 2004, inspired by Catherine Ryan Hyde's novel & the 2004 film: if you are the recipient of a good deed, it's a calling to perform three good deeds for someone else - paying it "forward" rather than back. It is not a formal non-profit, it's a movement: a spirit of giving that multiplies, insisting that no matter how rich or poor, old or young, everyone has something good to give to another.
Rick has engaged key non-profit agency leaders tirelessly and passionately, succeeding in enacting a shift in the culture of "helping" in the Bangor area.
