BRUNSWICK, Maine (AP) -- About 130 Marines and sailors from Maine are heading home from a 10-month deployment, including time spent in Afghanistan.

The members of Company A, 1st Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment were planning to arrive home to their Reserve training center on Wednesday.

The company is composed primarily of Reserve Marines from the local community. The Marines live and work in Maine and throughout the New England area. The Marines are trained at the Brunswick Reserve Training Center.

The Marines spent three months in California and seven months in Afghanistan, conducting counterinsurgency and security operations. They also focused on training Afghan security forces in preparation for the transition of security responsibilities from NATO to the local government.
