BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - An inmate at the Piscataquis County Jail has pleaded guilty to trying to send a threatening letter to the President of the United States.

Leroy Dunn, from Windham, was indicted earlier this year for sending the letter in April of last year.

Dunn, who was serving time for dealing drugs, apparently wrote a death threat to the President and gave it to a corrections officer, asking that it be mailed.

Instead, jail officials opened the letter and then contacted the U.S. Secret Service.

Dunn faces a maximum sentence of 5 years in prison and a fine up to $250,000.

Dunn will remain in state custody pending federal sentencing.
