For this Fit at Five we check out a facility that helps clients look better, feel better, and move better. Livevital in Portland offers a complete approach to making the body function better through both physical therapy, and training.
When Livevital first opened two years ago most of their clients came to the facility for the physical therapy aspect, but now the focus has also gone to helping people train to reach their goals. Owner David Knop tells us "There is a bit of a gray area between training and rehab. Often times you get a client that says 'I used to do that, but then my shoulder started hurting.' So you need to blend in corrective exercises with a training format."
The attention to detail in the assessment process at Livevital is extremely important. David works to create an individualized program to help the clients reach their specific goals. Many clients have transitioned from physical therapy to training, and have started to include the nutrition aspect.
Livevital is different from other workout facilities. At the most you would see about ten people working out all at the same time. Trainers are constantly walking around monitoring people's form to make sure they are getting the most out of their workouts.
